A standout student and athlete at Guntersville High School, Wes was invited to walk-on and play football at the University of Alabama under Coach Gene Stallings. There he earned All-SEC Academic honors, a trip to the Outback Bowl, and the prestigious honor of letterman in the
“A-Club.” In 1999, Wes graduated from the University of Alabama College of Commerce and Business Administration with a B.S. Degree in Finance.
After college, Wes went on to law school at the University of Missouri and earned both his law degree and a Masters in Business Administration with a focus on entrepreneurship. While there, he married his college sweetheart Jordana. After graduate school, Jordana and Wes moved back home to Marshall County to begin their family and careers. Wes began working at a law firm specializing in Real Estate but soon fulfilled his dream of starting his own law firm. Wes is now the managing partner of Long, Flanagan, and McDonald with offices in Guntersville and Huntsville.
Wes has since continued his entrepreneurial pursuits and is the managing member of the Hampton Inns in Guntersville and Jacksonville, AL. Wes also has ownership in Wintzell’s Oyster House in Guntersville along with ownership in his family’s local business also located in Guntersville. With ownership in multiple businesses, Long currently employs more than 200 local residents in his district.
Wes is a founding member of the Marshall County Renters Association and currently serves on the association’s board. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar and is a former board member of the Guntersville Chamber of Commerce.Wes is a proud member of the University of Alabama “A-Club,” the Guntersville Rotary Club, and the Republican Party of Marshall County.
Jordana and Wes are blessed with two beautiful children, three year old Maly Kate and one year old Mac. Together they attend Guntersville First United Methodist Church.
